5 Sneakers You Might Want To Consider for your Wardrobe

"Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." - Rachel Zoe

What you wear each day, right down to how you dress for the gym or dance class is a reflection of your personal style.

There are many ways to look good and chic but a perfect pair of kicks can be the ultimate fashion statement to your outfit

Sneakers are great for dressing up an outfit whether you're headed out for errands, to school, dance classes or the gym. With so many choices out there, there's no reason why you can't look fabulous and  enjoy the luxury of comfort all at the same time!

We get a lot of CJ students asking what shoes they should wear for dance classes, and we always tell them it's all about wearing shoes they feel comfortable moving around in.

Well, if you're looking for a pair of kicks to spice up your look, here are some options you might want to consider!

1. Nike X Liberty

Cel's Nike Dunk Sky Hi Liberty
Founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, the Liberty brand is well known for its floral and graphic motifs. Its collaboration with Nike brings flower power to the usually rugged design Nike engages with sneakers. Each collection with Nike features an array of gorgeous Liberty Silhouettes, plus you can customize your very own pair right HERE!

From the moment I saw it, I knew I had to have them! I managed to score this pair of Nike Dunk Sky Hi Liberty and everyone I've met while wearing it loves it and wants to know how they too, can get their hands on a pair. The sneakers come with an internal wedge, feels light and is absolutely comfy to wear all day. I also love how it brightens up or gives a chic look to any outfit that I match it with.

Nike is one of the top choices when it comes to dance footwear. Why not go crazy and impress with style!

PS. K-Pop Darlings, the ladies from SNSD have been spotted rocking various designs of Nike x Liberty!

For those of you looking for lightweight dance shoes, you might want to consider the Nike Troupe Dance Shoe!

2. Adidas (JS, Originals, Neo, Y-3)

Adidas Jeremy Scott sneakers rose to prominence after being endorsed by celebrities like 2NE1 and Nicki Minaj. They were then quickly being spotted on Rihanna and other various K-Pop celebrities.

Outrageously eye-catching with its outlandish and creative designs, Adidas JS sneakers (and apparel) are the perfect fashion expression for our favourite fashion-forward musicians.

Look around CJ and you'll see many students donning this series of shoes. Just look out for the shoes with wings!

Not a fan of the wings nor plushies, I think the JS Nizza Jagged is unique and I can't tell you how much I love that it's in classic Black and White.  Photo Credits: Freshness

The Adidas Originals is one of the best ongoing labels that Adidas has pulled out of its bag. It's simply amazing how they integrate the old and new concepts, retaining that touch of retro or vintage aspect. Dancer Kyle Hanagami has been seen sporting this many times in his dance videos!

Adidas Neo - In addition to its sprightly coloured sneakers, the Adidas Neo Clothing and Accessories feature styles from Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez!

3. Superga

Superga is an Italian brand known for its high fashion shoes and edgy campaigns. Classic, chic and it goes with anything, Superga can be your go-to pair for school, Dance or the street.

One of my favourite bloggers - Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad has collaborated with Superga for a capsule collection! Superga in lace details comes in 4 colours. Photo Credits:

Superga is a brand helmed by the Olsen Twin, Ashley & Mary Kate, and will appeal to females looking for that petite and subtle look to any outfit. Plus it's lightweight enough to make great dancing shoes!

4. Converse

Chuck Taylors are a hot favourite if you're looking to dress down and add a twist of grunge to your outfit. You can dress it up like everyone's favourite Twilight leading lady here who rocked the Chucks on the red carpet.

They're a little on the heavier side, but once you get used to the weight, you can scream personality each time you put on a special pair. You can pretty much find unique Converse designs, or if you have a flair for art, ink your own set of canvas shoes!

5. New Balance

Locally, New Balance isn't exactly a very popular shoe used for dance, but more for activities like jogging, sprinting, etc. However, if you do score the right pair, there are actually great designs and color schemes to match your wardrobe.

With the prominent N emblazoned across all its shoes, the New Balance series is actually really light, and offers great cushion and support for those wearing it.

Unfortunately, you might have better luck sourcing the cooler designs overseas than in local retail outlets!
