PA Dancethon 2015!

A large number of CJ students headed down to the Civic Plaza at Ngee Ann City on 23rd May, to participate in the Ngee Ann City-PA Dancethon 2015! This Dancethon was jointly organised by the People's Association (PA) Active Aging Council and Ngee Ann City, and supported by ITE College Central, with the objective of encouraging intergenerational interaction between youths and senior citizens!

Our students danced alongside the senior citizens to a medley of two songs, popular oldie "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor and recent jam "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars! The choreography, created by our very own Dance Instructor, Jojo, featured energetic dance moves that required the senior citizens to interact with our students.

After the arrival of the Guest-of-Honour, our Instructor - Jojo took to the stage to teach the dance routine, and the teaching session culminated in a "50-second Dance-Off" featuring 10 pairs of youths and senior citizens selected from the crowd!

Earlier on in the afternoon, while waiting for the arrival of the Guest-of-Honour, several senior citizens took the stage to lead the crowd of senior citizens and youths in several rounds of line-dancing! Our students were great sports and followed along enthusiastically, despite having no experience in line-dance or no prior knowledge of the line-dance routines! It was a pleasant sight to see the senior citizens completely in their element and the youths trying their very best to catch up.

Thank you to all our students who came down to participate in the actual event, and for making the time to come for the pre-event training sessions as well!

We hoped you all made new friends and got to know your fellow CJ students better, and we hoped you all enjoyed the Krispy Kreme doughnuts and the post-Dancethon party! (:

Those who couldn't make it for the event this year, we hope you'll be able to join in on the fun next time round! (:

Love,
CJ
